A Safe Deposit Box Is a Box, Not a Custody Service

A box has no inventory, no condition record, no usable access log, and in most cases no insurance attached to what is inside it. It is a fine place to put things — and if your collection is modest and already documented, it is cheaper than us and we will say so. The case for a vault is the record and the controlled release, not the strength of the door.

Come and see it before you commit anything. Bring your insurance broker or your appraiser if that helps you decide.

The difference

How we work

Built for a collection that leaves and comes back

Bullion sits. A watch collection goes out to be worn, sent for service, shown to a buyer, and lent to a family member. Storage that makes each of those a production is storage that quietly becomes a drawer at home instead.

Item-level records, not a total

Photographs, reference numbers, serials where present, and condition. An underwriter cannot schedule "a watch collection" and a beneficiary cannot inherit one. What they can work with is a list.

We are not appraisers, dealers or watchmakers

We do not value, buy, sell or service anything we hold. Each of those creates an interest in what you own, and a custodian should not have one. We store, document and hand over.

A safe deposit box is a box

It has no inventory, no condition record, no access log you can use, and in many cases no meaningful insurance attached to its contents. It is a fine place to put things and it is not a custody service, and the difference matters at claim and at probate.

Common questions

Is a safe deposit box insured by the bank?
Generally not, which surprises people. Confirm it with your bank.
Do you insure the collection?
No. Your policy does. Ask your broker specifically about commercial storage and about transit.
Do you appraize or value?
No. That is an appraiser's role, and a custodian should not have an interest in what you own.
Do you wind or service watches?
No. Pieces held long term will stop; winding and servicing are your watchmaker's work.
Can I take a watch out to wear it?
Yes, by appointment, logged, with condition re-checked on return. Storage that is hard to use stops being used.
Who can access my collection?
Only people you have authorized in writing, and you can revoke that at any time. Every access is logged.
What happens when I die?
We release on the authority your estate documents establish. Tell one person the collection exists — that single step prevents the most common loss.
Might a home safe be enough?
For pieces you wear regularly, frequently yes. Most collectors split: regular pieces at home, the rest vaulted.

What, from where, and roughly when. You do not need an inventory to start the conversation, and if the job belongs with an armored carrier we will say so on the call.
